A sales calculator built with vibe coding can help a team apply a common rule and explain an estimate. Its value depends first on correct calculations. Before designing the interface, prepare the formula, units and examples with known answers.

Choose a limited calculation

Take a fictional example: an estimated amount depends on quantity, unit price and discount. The first version displays the amount before discount, the discount amount and the total.

State clearly whether prices exclude tax and what the estimate leaves out. If your activity requires additional rules, do not let AI invent them. The prototype should apply your written method without adding commercial conditions.

Prepare a small reference table

With a quantity of ten, a unit price of one hundred euros and a ten per cent discount, the expected total is nine hundred euros before tax. Keep this answer as a control example.

Add a zero discount, minimum quantity and decimal value. Decide when to round and to how many decimal places. A rounding difference can remain subtle in one example and become visible across several lines.

Make data entry clear

Each field should explain what it expects. “Discount in %” is clearer than “Discount” if some colleagues think in euros. Provide an example value without confusing it with a real entry.

Define rejected values: text instead of a number, a negative quantity or a discount above your chosen limit. The message should explain the correction. A total displayed despite invalid input could be used by mistake.

Request a clear, traceable result

The summary repeats the inputs, applied formula and assumptions. Allow corrections before printing. If the document remains an estimate, say so alongside the result.

Ask a colleague to repeat the calculation manually. Then let someone unfamiliar with its construction try the prototype. Check that they understand the units and limits without an oral explanation.

Observe use before connecting the CRM

During the trial, record necessary corrections and recurring questions. Does the calculator actually prevent omissions? Does its presentation help people discuss assumptions? These observations determine the next step.

If you then plan automatic recording in your sales software, treat that connection as a new stage. It needs to handle permissions, duplicates and errors. A reliable calculation does not establish that synchronisation is reliable too.

Frequently asked questions

Can the calculator replace a quotation?

Only if the necessary process, information and validations have been provided. An estimation prototype does not automatically become a final commercial document.

How should results be checked?

Use independently calculated examples, including rounding and boundary values. Repeat them whenever the formula changes.
