Vibe coding security: questions to ask before sharing
ELOREZO

The security of a vibe coding tool depends on how it actually works: permissions, data, services and allowed operations. You cannot establish security from a screen’s appearance. Before professional sharing, identify the project’s risks and arrange an appropriate technical review.

Ask what needs protection

A demonstration page without saved data and a space containing customer cases have different implications. List the information, users and possible actions.

Add the consequences of an error: exposing a case, changing a rule, deleting information or sending something unexpectedly. This helps decide what must be checked before a trial and what rules out real use while uncertainty remains.

Check permissions with several accounts

If the application has accounts, prepare two test users. Have someone verify that neither can view or modify information reserved for the other, including by opening a URL directly.

Hiding a button does not prove protection. Rules must be enforced in the right place and tested. Ask for a precise report: scenario, expected result, observed result and any correction.

Have secrets and dependencies examined

Connection keys, administration access and project settings need careful handling. Check that they are not included in public files or messages displayed to users.

Also ask which libraries and services are used and who will monitor changes to them. OWASP Top 10 identifies risk categories for web applications; it can guide a discussion with a professional without itself validating your tool.

Try unexpected behaviour

Very long input, an unexpected file or a repeated action may reveal issues that the normal journey misses. Checks should match the actual features: a simple form and a document space need different tests.

Examine error messages too. They should help users act without revealing internal information. The application should also avoid announcing success when an operation has failed.

Decide the sharing scope

A limited trial can use fictional data, an identified group and a defined duration. If you introduce real information or consequential actions, reassess the project’s requirements.

Assign responsibility for corrections and provide a way to suspend the application. Security continues after first publication: changes, new users and integrations can alter the risks.

Frequently asked questions

Can AI guarantee that code is secure?

Its own assurance is not evidence. Have the code and behaviour examined with checks appropriate to the project’s risks.

Does every small trial need an audit?

The level of review depends on scope. An isolated fictional-data exercise calls for a different approach from a shared tool holding real cases.
